The Adult Choir at St. Paul's sings Choral Evensong periodically throughout the year, sometimes with guest choirs joining them. Evensong, or sung Evening Prayer, is sung daily in English cathedrals and collegiate chapels. A distinctively Anglican form of meditative prayer lasting about 45 minutes, it's a lovely way to end close the weekend. The following services are currently scheduled at 5:00 p.m.:
On Sunday, December 15, at 5:00 p.m., St. Paul's will offer its annual Advent liturgy of the Great O Antiphons. The Cathedral choir will sing ancient Gregorian chant antiphons in Latin, followed by Mark Howe's 2010 settings in Englis. This festive candlelit service features Advent hymns and carols, readings of prophecy and fulfillment, and prayers. The choir will sing works by Palestrina, Elizabeth Poston, and Jacobus Gallus, among others, and Judith McManis' spectacular Advent banners will heighten the experience.
